Public Enemy 2009

Public Enemy
Directed by Michael Mann
Starring: Johnny Depp, Christan Bale, Marion Cotillard

A really important moment in American history, directed by a fantastic director and led by a talented caste.
However, the film is washed out that fails to involve the audience. It seems like a fact file, detailed and accurate but it doesn’t make you feel connected to any of the characters or the story.
The potential of the actors seems barely exploited and and Depp is the only one who gives a better performance (probably because he gets more opportunity to do so than the rest).
The film is shot with HD cameras, which doesn’t mesh well with the mood of the film and distracts from the narrative.
I like the way it was shot though, the frames were really interesting but it just didnt seem right with the film.

What do you think?
